SKETCH 101

Service Description

Students in SKETCH 101 are given an introduction to This Is Improv's style of sketch comedy. Specifically, students will learn how to generate ideas, format sketch scripts, how to utilize a story arc for comedy writing, and how to find the "game" in scenes. Each week students will engage in writing exercises that will explore different sketch formats. Students will be exposed to different methods for turning funny ideas into even funnier written sketches. Students will leave the class with an understanding of popular sketch formats and a portfolio of writing. SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE. ------ Learning Outcomes: Sketch Writing: Students learn the core principles of sketch writing. Generate Constant Content: Students will learn how to quickly create ideas and keep them flowing. Comedic Structure: Students will learn different comedic styles and sketch structures.
